Gloop Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups of cornflour, a few drops of food colouring, 1 cup of cold water.

Pour the cornflour into a bowl, add a few drops of food colouring(optional). Add the cold water slowly, stirring constantly and stop when the water is barely absorbed by the cornflour.

Gloop is safe, easy to clean, and wonderful fun!

Setup this activity outside.  Gloop will brush off clothes and furnishings once it dries to a powder. Remember to throw left over gloop in the bin rather than down your sink, it could block your drain!

What learning is happening here?

Gloop transforms! Solid into liquid then back to solid again.  Pile it up to make a castle, spread it out and use your finger to make shapes and write words.  Divide the mix and add different colours, see what happens when the different colours meet!

Play Dough Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 1-2 tablespoons of oil, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 1 cup water, food colouring (optional).

Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a saucepan, then add the oil and the water.  Cook slowly over a low heat, stirring constantly until the dough comes together away from the edges of pan and become to solid to stir.  Remove from the heat and leave to cool until it is safe to handle.  Knead the dough and add food colouring, you are ready to play! Store your playdough in an airtight container or air lock bag, it should be fine to use for up to a week.

Fun Tip: Add essence; pink playdough that smells like strawberry or green playdough that smells like mint is great fun.  You can also add glitter to you playdough for extra sparkle!
