Teaching & Learning
If you are interested in joining our kindergarten community we encourage you to put your child's name on our waiting list once they turn 2 years old. Our entry age changes from time to time, currently it is 3 years & 8 months.
Our kindergarten provides an environment for children and their families/whānau which is safe, happy, stimulating and challenging. The programme allows uninterrupted time for children to play, interact, socialise, experience, explore and initiate their own learning and share their knowledge, culture, skills and interests facilitated and supported by qualified teachers.
Te Whāriki (Early Childhood Curriculum Document) is the foundation of our programme planning. We recognise the individual strengths, interests and abilities of our children ensuring they are acknowledged and extended. Children's portfolios, documentation of learning stories and planning stories form part of our assessment process
Educators endeavour to form warm relationships with children, their families and whanau. They are affirmed and valued as integral to the culture of our kindergarten as a "community of learners"

Our History
Hibiscus Coast Kindergarten opened in the early 1970's and maintained traditional morning and afternoon sessions until recently when we changed to the Kindergarten Day Model (KDM). It was originally located alongside the Orewa Primary School which has since moved to a new site and Orewa College is now established as our neighbour.
