For Parents

Kindergarten is a place for families.Parents, siblings and extended family are always welcome at Mahurangi Kindergarten. Parents are welcome to stay for as long or as little as they feel comfortable with. Any parent help during session time or tidy up time is always appreciated. Parents are also needed to help on trips and excursions, and this is a great way to meet other parents, get to know your children's friends, and also have a GREAT time with your own child.

Kindergarten Parents Committee

The parents committee at Mahurangi Kindergarten meet once a month at the kindergarten.The committee is made up of interested parents/whaanau who play a vitally important role in supporting and organising kindergarten’s finances, fundraising and maintenance. Any support of your time or your skills WILL make a difference and many new friendships have been formed over the years.

Schools

Children from Mahurangi children go on to attend school at Warkworth Primary, Matakana School, Kaipara Flats School and Ahuroa School. We also have several children who go on to home schooling.

Our philosophy of learning through play produces children who are imaginative and creative problem solvers and learners.

Once a week we take a small group of morning children and walk down Warkworth Primary School. While at the school we visit the school library for some storytime, we also visit the reception classes (to see all of our friends who have gone to school!) and have a play on the 'big kids' playground.

These visits are excellent at giving kindergarten children an experience of "school" regardless of which school they will eventually go to. We also visit Warkworth Primary for any special events they may be holding such as syndicate productions, Book Week Parade, Giant Pumpkin Competition, Wearable Arts etc.
