Kindergarten Information

At Mahurangi Kindergarten we are not just teachers, but parents as well, and we realise that your first day at kindergarten can be a little overwhelming.

We thought it might make things a little easier if you knew a few things ahead of time, so here’s a little ‘heads up’ list to help you feel more confident.

As kindergarten is a great place to explore with all the senses, it can get a little dirty at times so it’s always good to bring along a spare set of clothes.

We provide a healthy snack of fruit and crackers for your child during the session. We ask that you contribute 2 pieces of fruit a week and 5 packets of crackers per term.

Filtered water is available all the time.

We are required by the Ministry of Education to sight your child’s immunisation certificate (please do not worry if your child is not immunised, it’s just procedural), so if you can bring this on the first day that would be great.

You are welcome to stay for as long as you like to settle your child in, we know it sometimes takes a while.

Also, remember that this is a great place for you to meet other parents with similar aged children, so treat this time as your time as well.

Please feel free to bring along younger siblings, this is a place for families.

What we really want you to bring on your first day is your child and yourself...if you forget everything else it doesn’t matter.
