The Team
Mahurangi Kindergarten offers a stimulating, magical and respectful environment that encourages children to engage in play that is rich and complex.
The teaching team are all fully qualified teachers and believe that children have the right to a beautiful, challenging, safe yet stimulating environment that engages their head, heart and spirit.
We run a programme that integrates Te Whaariki, the Early Childhood Curriculum, with aspects of the Reggio Emillia approach.
At Mahurangi Kindergarten we aim to give children the wings to fly.
Karen
Head Teacher: KAREN
Hi, I’m Karen and I live in Port Albert with my husband Mike and son Tian. I have heaps of animals (too many sometimes!) but I love them all. I grew up in Auckland but have lived in the Warkworth area for many years. I love doing loads of things...mainly living! I can’t wait to get to know you and your family better.

Kara
Teacher: KARA
Hi, I’m Kara and I teach in the morning sessions. I live locally with my husband and 2 daughters on a small lifestyle block. I love working at Mahurangi Kindy and being able to get to know all the wonderful families that attend here.
Sonya
Office Administrator: SONYA
Hi, I’m Sonya and I work in the office at kindy. My role is mainly office administration, and I support the teachers in the kindergarten itself doing some kindergarten aide work as well. I have been coming to kindy as a parent since 2004 and I feel very lucky to now be working here! My children left kindy, but luckily I never had to!
Sarah
Teacher: Sarah.
Hi I'm Sarah. I grew up in Warkworth and I attended this kindergarten when I was little, and I am very excited to be back in the community after living in south/east Auckland for 14 years.
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, travelling, reading, going for walks and chilling out in front of the TV or at the movies.
I am looking forward to learning alongside the children and their families and being part of the Warkworth community again.
