Parent / Whanau Involvement

At Silverdale Kindergarten we value the contributions of Parents and Whanau.

Parents, Caregivers and Whanau are always welcome to stay and participate in the programme with their child.

Committee

Our kindergarten committee is made up of interested parents who are responsible for financial management, approval of expenditure, building maintenance and fundraising.

Parent Involvement

We have a Parent Help Roster to encourage parent participation in the kindergarten programme on a daily basis.

Parents are also encouraged to be involved by contricuting knowlege and skils to enrich the programme. Helping with excursions, attending social events, fundraisers etc for the kindergarten community.

Food Policy

We have children at kindergarten with severe allergies resulting in anaphylaxis. (Anaphylaxis is a severe allgeric reaction to an allergy causing substance. Death can occur withing minutes). Main allergies are peanuts, eggs and dairy products. These children can react to allergens whether ingested or through skin contact.

To help us keep them safe while at kindergarten we have a food policy that must be adhered to especially in lunch boxes.

Please - We ask that you do not send your child with any nut products in their lunchboxes eg. peanut butter, nutella and muesli bars. We do not use egg cartons and ask that all parents are vigilant in removing all traces of any nut products from you and your child including hands and clothing.
