Our Philosophy
Children learn through play. We aim to meet the individual needs of every child; physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. We believe by creating an environment that fosters curiosity and exploration children have the opportunity to actively engage with each other and the environment.
By creating an environment based on the childrens interests we are ensuring there are opportunities for moments of wonder. Some learning is initiated by the child and at other times by the teaching staff.
We believe our role is to share the journey of wonder alongside each child. Working and researching together helps us to get to know the children on an individual basis. Parents have a font of knowledge to share with us regarding their child and we encourage family/whanau to share this with us and be a part of their child's learning journey. Families are always welcome to come and spend time with us at kindergarten and share the kindergarten experience.
Why Choose Kindergarten?
At Stanmore Bay kindergarten your child will experience a range of stimulating, challenging and a constantly changing learning environment.
Your child will learn a range of life skills including:
* Being involved in groups with other learners and teachers
* Sharing and exploring their understandings of people, places and things
* Expressing ideas and feelings and having these acknowledged and extended
* An early introduction to reading, writing, science and maths skills
* Social skills - negotiating, turn taking, cooperation and conflict resolution
* Respect for other cultures, languages and traditions
At kindergarten we respect the diverse needs and aspirations of families. We recommend that parents explore all the options available before making this important decision. You are welcome to visit with your child at any time to see if this is the environment for you.
