Marie, Teacher
Tena koutou katoa. Hi, I’m Marie and I live in Whangateau at Leigh by the sea, with my husband Gary. We have 7 adult children and 5 wonderful grandchildren. I am proud to say that I have returned home to my ancestral area of which I have many happy, childhood memories. Things I love are fishing on my boat, music, playing the guitar, singing, science, baking and icing cakes and loads more!!!! My 25-year teaching journey has taken me from south Auckland to Rodney. I have worked at Whangaparaoa Kindergarten for 5 years and just love the fun community with friendly children and families.
Wendy I, Teacher
Hi, my name is Wendy Irving and I live in Orewa. My husband Al, and I have three adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. My early childhood background started at Playcentre where I went many years ago with my daughter. I was blown away by the parenting courses they held on child development and this lead me along the interesting pathway on early childhood and education. I’ve worked in a variety of different early childhood services – private kindergarten, community crèche and daycares.
Jo, Teacher
Hello, I am Jo Bain. I live in Stanmore Bay. I have been teaching since 1980. I am married with 3 children. During the time my own children were young, I was involved in Playcentre, worked at private pre-schools and relieved for local kindergartens. In 2000 I attended Hungry Creek Art School, full-time, for 2 years majoring in Painting and Pottery. I continue to work as an artist and feel I owe a debt to the children's wonderful expressive colours and joy in life. I am looking forward to my time at Whangaparaoa Kindergarten.
Dianne, Administrator
Hi, I'm Dianne and I am the administrator. My two younger children attended Whangaparaoa Kindergarten and I was treasurer of the kindergarten committee for a year before my youngest went to school. At that stage the administrator position came up and I was keen to continue my association with the kindergarten and this time get paid for it! I enjoy working with the fantastic teachers and the wonderful children with this interesting and varied job.
